SALT LAKE CITY, UT – A head-on collision on I-80 in Salt Lake City killed one person Saturday night, FOX 13 Now reported.
The crash happened around 8:30 pm. A BMW Sedan crossed the median on I-80. Then it caught fire and flipped across the median.
It is unclear why the Sedan driver crossed the median. As a result, the three Sedan passengers were thrown out of the car.
One person who was not thrown succumbed to life-threatening injuries, and died.
The fire happened because the Sedan crashed into a Ford Explorer. The Ford Explorer passengers were unharmed and were able to escape the vehicle. The current condition of the Sedan passengers was not stated.
Police did not state the names of those involved.
Following the accident, the westbound lanes of I-80 were closed for several hours.
