TOOELE COUNTY, UT – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision that happened on I-80 Sunday afternoon, FOX 13 reported.
The crash happened between a Tooele Freeway exit and the Great Salt Lake State Park. The motorcycle traveled off course and flipped. As a result, the motorcyclist was killed, according to Utah Highway Patrol officials.
Troopers said they were uncertain about how or why the rider drifted off the road, but strong winds could be a potential factor.
At one point, a LifeFlight helicopter was called to the scene, but there was no indication of the motorcyclist being airlifted to the hospital. In addition, troopers said they were unsure if the rider was wearing a helmet.
Following the motorcycle accident, authorities responded to a collision that involved two cars. The drivers affected suffered minor injuries.
