One cyclist gets injured, another dies from vehicle crash in West Bountiful

WEST BOUNTIFUL, UT – A car and bicycle crash left one with life-threatening injuries and left one dead Thursday, KUTV said.

The collision happened after 4 pm near 1050 West Pages Lane. For an unknown reason, a pickup truck traveled off course and slammed into two cyclists.

Police identified the driver as 29-year-old Sean Mikesell.

Mikesell sustained unspecified injuries and was transported to a hospital. Police charged him with reckless driving and vehicular manslaughter.

The two cyclists were a 17-year-old girl and a 53-year-old man named Michael Scott Roberts of North Salt Lake.

Roberts died, and the girl is expected to live.

West Bountiful Police are investigating the case.
