Narrative
WEST VALLEY, UT – A 36-year-old driver was arrested after crashing a box truck into a West Valley home on Thursday.
The incident happened just prior to 8 p.m. in the area of 5400 South and 5600 West, which is just east of The Ridge Golf Club.
Police say that Matthew Darren Hammick attempted to bribe bystanders for their silence regarding the accident and then fled the scene when authorities arrived.
Officials suspect that Hammick was likely intoxicated at the time of the crash. After a short pursuit, police arrested him on multiple charges, including DUI and third-degree felony aggravated assault.
The crash caused substantial structural damage to the home, but nobody was injured.
A full investigation is underway.
