Narrative
SAN JUAN CO., UT – An 83-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman died after an initial head-on collision and a subsequent crash with a Penske truck.
The incident happened just before 1 a.m. Thursday on US-191 north of Monticello, which is just southwest of Mount Waas and just east of Canyonlands National Park.
The investigation thus far suggests that a northbound Ford Taurus and a southbound Nissan Sentra collided head-first after one of the vehicles veered into oncoming traffic. A southbound moving truck then struck the Nissan.
The head-on collision killed both the driver of the Ford and the driver of the Nissan. The driver of the Penske truck was not hurt in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
