Narrative
SEVIER CO., UT – A man died, and a woman sustained critical injuries Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash along the interstate in western Sevier County.
The accident happened at night on the eastbound side of I-70 just west of Richfield. This is about 162 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.
Police say the driver may have been fatigued when he lost control of his Jeep Cherokee and left the roadway. The Jeep crashed down an embankment, and both the driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle.
The driver died at the scene. Authorities identified him as Luke Peltier, who was a wrestler at Snow College in Ephraim.
Medics transported a female passenger to the hospital with critical injuries.
Neither the Peltier nor the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
